Vicuña and UOCRA reach labor conditions agreement for high-altitude mining construction

Vicuña and the Unión Obrera de la Construcción de la República Argentina (UOCRA) signed a framework agreement to establish labor conditions applicable to contractor and subcontractor companies participating in the project's construction in the Andes. The understanding incorporates specific requirements for high-altitude work tasks and adds benefits and compensation to existing collective bargaining agreement provisions.

Key provisions include allowances for work at high altitude and payments associated with roster schemes to be implemented. The framework also addresses activities carried out above 4,000 meters above sea level, with the goal of establishing uniform criteria for all companies involved in the project's various execution phases.

Training programs for San Juan workers

The agreement incorporates training initiatives that Vicuña and UOCRA are developing throughout the country and in San Juan. In this regard, the company signed an agreement with the Fundación UOCRA to develop training programs in heavy machinery operation and specialized trades.

The document was signed by Ron Hochstein, Vicuña CEO; José Morea, the company's national director in Argentina; and Gerardo Martínez, UOCRA's general secretary. The initiative aims to support the growing need for training, employment, and labor conditions linked to the project's development.
