AI Could Boost Argentine GDP by Up to 6.7%
The incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) into Argentine companies could generate significant impact on economic activity. Projections from Google Cloud estimate that widespread adoption of this technology would allow the country to increase its gross domestic product between 3.7% and 6.7% annually.
The survey presented in Buenos Aires indicated that 20.4% of companies already use AI in their operations, while another 44.4% plan to implement it in the short term. The advancement aims not only to automate tasks or process information, but also to integrate the technology into production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
In industry, one of the fastest-growing applications is predictive maintenance. Through so-called digital twins, companies can virtually represent plants, production lines, and supply chains to anticipate failures, simulate scenarios, and adjust equipment operation in real time.
A study by the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) and Accenture calculates that AI could contribute 1.2 percentage points annually to labor productivity. The study maintains that automation and collaboration between workers and intelligent systems could modify up to 38% of working time in industry, with effects on quality, operational flexibility, and innovation.
Mining appears among activities evaluating concrete applications. Accenture works with gold and silver operations seeking to incorporate technology, as well as accompanying projects intended to develop from the outset with digital management. Among the mentioned uses are contract analysis, deadline tracking, and risk anticipation to protect investments.
In lithium projects, AI can also contribute to plant design and process control requiring purity levels of 99.999%. Remote operation through intelligent control rooms is another alternative being considered, especially in deposits located at high altitude, where environmental conditions can make operations more unstable.
