Government Postpones Fuel Tax Updates Until October

The Government decided to defer until October 1st the update of taxes applied to liquid fuels. The measure directly impacts gasoline and diesel prices.

The postponement was formalized through decree 829, published Monday in the Official Gazette. In this way, the modification of the levies will not be applied during September.

According to what is established in the regulation, the Executive seeks to prevent the adjustment from generating an immediate impact on the prices consumers pay at service stations.

The decision is also framed within the official objective of containing the effects of the tax update on inflation.
