Latin America Seeks to Integrate Its Gas Resources and Infrastructure

Latin America faces an energy paradox: it has growing natural gas production, conventional and unconventional resources, and a pipeline network developed over several decades.

This infrastructure is complemented by the expansion of regional liquefied natural gas (LNG) capabilities. However, the availability of resources and infrastructure alone does not guarantee efficient supply to markets requiring greater capacity.

The main challenge lies in articulating these assets within a regional framework that allows gas to be transported reliably and at competitive prices. This requires predictable rules, new investments, and greater coordination among markets.

Energy demand across different points in Latin America continues to grow, while the region seeks to leverage its reserves and existing infrastructure. Integration thus appears as a key condition for converting gas potential into an energy source with greater regional reach.
