Vicuña and UOCRA Foundation to Launch Vocational Training and Heavy Equipment Operations Programs

Vicuña and the UOCRA Foundation for the Education of Construction Workers signed an agreement to launch a vocational training program with initial courses beginning in October. The initiative aims to develop skills applicable to construction, infrastructure, and mining activities.

The program will include content on civil works, electrical work and instrumentation, plumbing, welding, metal structure assembly, and heavy equipment and road machinery operation. Classes will combine theoretical and practical components and will be held initially in departments near the Vicuña project.

The vocational training will have a load of 160 hours, an estimated duration of two months, and groups of up to 25 participants. Meanwhile, the road machinery track will comprise 120 hours and will be organized in groups of up to 15 people.

The UOCRA Foundation will be responsible for designing and delivering the courses, providing pedagogical support, and certifying acquired competencies. It will also process the "Soy Constructor" labor credential for those who complete and pass the training.

Vicuña will provide spaces for program activities, equipment for practical work with road machinery, and overall program oversight. According to reports, the agreement seeks to strengthen local capabilities and expand employment tools available to people interested in sectors related to construction, infrastructure, and mining.

Vicuña Corp. is a joint venture of BHP and Lundin Mining. The company is developing the Josemaría deposit in San Juan and the copper, gold, and silver Filo del Sol deposit, located between that province and the Atacama Region in Chile.
