Vicuña adds 300 operators for upcoming Josemaría and Filo del Sol stages

Vicuña reached a workforce of 300 operators preparing for the upcoming stages of the integrated project combining Josemaría and Filo del Sol. The figure was consolidated with the incorporation of 24 new workers during early-stage work advancement.

The 97% of personnel incorporated is from San Juan, while 47% come from communities near the project area. Additionally, women represent 16.3% of the workforce.

As part of operational preparation, workers participate in a training program focused on heavy machinery operation. The training includes technical content, operating procedures, and safety practices.

Activities will continue over the coming weeks with the support of specialized instructors. The goal is to develop the competencies needed for tasks planned in the following phases of Vicuña.

Vicuña Corp. is a joint venture between BHP and Lundin Mining. The company is developing Josemaría, a copper deposit located in San Juan, and Filo del Sol, a copper, gold and silver deposit situated between San Juan and the Atacama Region, Chile.
