Rare Earths, a Strategic Resource for the Energy Transition

Rare earths, also known as rare earth elements (REE), have gained relevance due to their role in the energy transition and the geopolitical dispute associated with their production and processing.

Despite their name, these elements are not particularly scarce in the Earth's crust. The main challenge lies in finding accumulations that can be exploited in an economically viable manner.

The difficulty is not limited to identifying the resources. Separating and processing the different elements requires specific technological capabilities, making the value chain a central component of the sector.

In Argentina, activity is at an early exploration stage. However, geological studies conducted so far indicate that the country holds promising potential in this type of mineral resource.

The development of that potential will depend on the continuity of exploration work and the ability to bring in the capabilities needed to move from deposit identification to eventual processing.
