San Matías Pipeline secures $900 million to finance pipeline to Río Negro

San Matías Pipeline (SMP) secured a $900 million syndicated loan under a project finance structure to move forward with the construction of a pipeline for natural gas transportation.

The infrastructure will connect Vaca Muerta production, from Tratayén, with the Río Negro coast. The line will be aimed at supplying the facilities that Southern Energy plans to set up in that province.

The project involves a total investment of $1.3 billion. Its function will be to carry the resource to two floating liquefaction terminals, from where Southern Energy will seek to export Argentine LNG to international markets.

The financing obtained will allow work to continue on a project considered strategic for expanding the country's natural gas processing and export capacity.
