San Juan Sur: Argentina's Most Powerful Solar Park Inaugurated

San Juan Governor Marcelo Orrego attended the official inauguration of Parque Solar San Juan Sur, which stands as the largest-capacity solar development currently operating in the province. Located in Sarmiento department, this facility adds 129 MW of renewable energy to San Juan's energy matrix.

The inauguration, held on October 8th, was attended by national and provincial authorities, as well as energy sector leaders, including Genneia president and CEO Jorge Brito and Bernardo Andrews, respectively. With an investment of 110 million dollars, the park spans 500 hectares and features 250,000 high-efficiency bifacial solar panels.

Energy produced at this new facility will be commercialized to large industrial users through the Renewable Energy Forward Market (MATER). With this addition, San Juan now operates 24 solar parks, demonstrating its commitment to a diversified and sustainable energy matrix.

During the event, Orrego emphasized the importance of private investment and public-private collaboration to promote large-scale projects. "The inauguration of this new park is the result of a shared vision for our province's growth," the governor stated, highlighting the confidence it generates for project development in the region.

Parque Solar San Juan Sur has the capacity to meet the energy consumption of approximately 90,000 households and avoid the emission of nearly 160,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually. Its construction generated around 300 temporary jobs.

This project represents Genneia's fourth development in the province, increasing its operational capacity to 350 MW in San Juan and strengthening its role as a strategic supplier for industry and mining across the Cuyo region.
