Río Negro to Hold Public Hearing on Argentina LNG Project

The Government of Río Negro will hold a public hearing on November 16 to evaluate the four Environmental Impact Studies that make up the Argentina LNG Project. The event will begin at 8 a.m. at the Vuta Mahuida Gymnasium in Sierra Grande.
The convocation is framed under provincial laws 3,266, 4,741, and 3,284, and will be overseen by the Secretariat of Environment and Climate Change, the authority responsible for the environmental procedure. The studies encompass a dedicated pipeline, the FLNG project, a polyduct, and an industrial complex.
The FLNG component provides for the installation and operation of two floating units to liquefy natural gas in the Gulf of San Matías, approximately five kilometers from the coast. The scheme also contemplates two submarine pipelines and the necessary works to link the units with land through a dock or trestle.
Argentina LNG articulates gas production in Vaca Muerta, its processing in Neuquén, transportation through approximately 525 kilometers of infrastructure to the Río Negro coast, liquefaction, and LNG export. The first phase considers a capacity of 12 million tonnes per annum, with a possible expansion to 18 million by 2030.
The polyduct would be used to transport liquids and condensates derived from gas processing, while the industrial complex would include facilities for their reception and fractionation. All works will be considered together, including their construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning phases.
Interested persons, organizations, and institutions wishing to present remarks must complete the corresponding form for each environmental study. Registration will remain open until November 11 at 8 a.m., that is, 72 business hours before the hearing. Each intervention may last up to five minutes per participant and per study.
