Río Negro Prepares Toll Scheme for Highway Repair

Río Negro is advancing with a plan to repair strategic sections of national routes 22 and 151, following the transfer of both highways from National Roads Authority. The initiative aims to improve corridors linked to Vaca Muerta development.

The provincial government plans to begin works in the short term and is analyzing a toll scheme as a financing mechanism. The proposal would be specifically targeted at transit generated by hydrocarbon activity, which uses those routes for transporting supplies, equipment, and production.

The transfer of the highways modifies Río Negro's role in the administration and maintenance of those corridors. Following the transfer, the province will need to organize maintenance tasks and define the operational model that will enable necessary interventions.

Routes 22 and 151 are considered key highways for connecting the productive region of Vaca Muerta with major logistics and urban centers. Their repair seeks to address the impact of heavy transit and support the growth of energy activity.
