Neuquén, Santa Cruz and Chubut lead exports

Neuquén, Santa Cruz and Chubut topped Argentina's 2025 ranking of goods exports per capita, with values higher than those recorded by the United States and Japan. Santa Cruz reached USD 8,816 per capita, Chubut hit USD 6,583 and Neuquén, USD 6,460.

The trend deepened between January and July 2026. During that period, Neuquén exported USD 7,412 per capita and Santa Cruz, USD 7,225, above the 2025 annual levels of the United States, Japan and New Zealand. Neuquén's exports rose 51.8% year-on-year and Santa Cruz's, 77.1%.

Chubut posted USD 3,460 per capita in the first seven months of the year, up 54.9% year-on-year. Although it fell short of the developed economies mentioned above, it far exceeded the national average of USD 1,258 per capita. Santa Fe, Tierra del Fuego and La Pampa also stood above that average.

Fuels, oil and minerals

In Neuquén, fuels and energy accounted for more than 98% of the USD 5,209 million exported through July, totaling USD 5,122 million. The growth is linked to the development of Vaca Muerta, the province's main differentiating factor compared with historical records.

Santa Cruz showed a different structure: industrial manufactured goods accounted for 74.3% of its USD 2,420 million in exports. Within that group, stones, precious metals and their manufactures stood out. In Chubut, meanwhile, industrial manufactured goods contributed USD 890 million and fuels and energy, USD 650 million, out of a total of USD 2,084 million; crude oil was the leading product.

The gap between jurisdictions remains wide. While the national average was USD 1,258 per capita, Formosa, the City of Buenos Aires, Chaco and Corrientes did not reach USD 200 in the January-July 2026 cumulative total.
