Figueroa presented Neuquén's strategy in Paris to export Vaca Muerta gas

Neuquén Governor Rolando Figueroa presented in Paris the provincial strategy to transform Vaca Muerta into a gas export platform, focusing on LNG development, competitiveness, and emissions reduction.
During Argentina Week, the governor participated in a panel on Argentine gas in the global market alongside his Río Negro counterpart, Alberto Weretilneck; Pan American Energy CEO Marcos Bulgheroni; and SEFE Group Executive Director Egbert Laege. The event was part of an agenda aimed at showcasing investment opportunities to European companies and investors.
Figueroa stressed that legal and political certainty, together with a long-term vision, are necessary conditions to attract investments. He also emphasized that production with near-zero methane levels would improve Argentine gas access opportunities to Europe, Japan, and South Korea.
The governor also highlighted coordination between Neuquén and Río Negro to advance infrastructure related to LNG exports from Patagonia. In that context, he valued the potential of Río Negro's port facilities to connect Vaca Muerta production with international markets.
Competitiveness emerged as another key pillar of the presentation. Figueroa stated that prices should be market-defined and linked that objective to joint work by operating companies, workers, unions, regional companies, and different levels of government.
The governor also emphasized regulatory changes in the hydrocarbon sector and the Large Investments Incentive Regime as tools to accelerate capital-intensive projects. For Neuquén, the challenge involves scaling up production and developing the necessary infrastructure so Vaca Muerta gas can compete on price, volume, and environmental performance.
