Mendoza: Pronapre Advanced in Mining Labor Safety with Participation from Government Agencies, Companies and Unions
Within the framework of the National Prevention Program (Pronapre), a new meeting of the working group dedicated to mining activity was held, with the aim of strengthening coordination between public agencies and different sector stakeholders to address safety and employment conditions.
The meeting included participation from representatives of the Work Risk Superintendence (SRT), the Subsecretariat of Labor and Employment, business chambers and unions linked to mining. From the Mining Directorate, director Jerónimo Shantal, subdirector Jimena Ponce and Lucas DomÃnguez from the Environmental Mining Police attended.
Defined Work Axes
During the session, three priority axes were agreed upon to deepen within the working group framework: the exploration stage in first and second-category mines; activities linked to artisanal mining; and work practices developed in third-category mines.
"This space allows us to address labor safety from a comprehensive perspective and, fundamentally, to build solutions jointly between the State, workers and the productive sector," Shantal highlighted. The official noted that the participation of different stakeholders makes it possible to identify the particularities of each activity and advance in concrete prevention tools.
Comprehensive Perspective
The Subsecretariat of Labor and Employment, Rodrigo Herrera, underscored that joint work enables progress in identifying risk situations and generating specific proposals. "To promote common criteria among the different actors involved in mining activity, for the purpose of protecting workers' lives and health, as well as the environment and efficient execution of productive processes in the activity," he stated.
The Pronapre working group constitutes a coordination forum in which national and provincial agencies, business representatives and labor organizations jointly address the specific challenges of each activity with a focus on prevention and strengthening labor safety conditions.
The next meeting of the working group linked to the mining sector is scheduled for October 13, to continue the work agenda and the axes defined in this meeting.
