Mendoza Drives Cluster to Strengthen Mining and Energy Suppliers

The Cluster of Suppliers for Mining and Energy in Cuyo (CProMEC) launched in Mendoza with the goal of preparing local companies to integrate into the value chains of mining, oil, and energy.

The initiative emerged within the Association of Metallurgical Industrialists of Mendoza (Asinmet), which provided the business structure and initial resources. Unlike a business chamber focused on sectoral representation and institutional relations, the cluster seeks to identify capabilities, needs, and concrete business opportunities.

Established as a non-profit civil association, CProMEC began operations with 32 founding companies from sectors including metallurgy, construction, services, engineering, and logistics. It also plans to coordinate with public agencies, universities, and technical entities to promote training, innovation, and knowledge transfer.

The agenda planned for 2026 and 2027 includes a capabilities assessment, a supplier database, demand studies, engagement with operators and developers, business roundtables, and training activities. The diagnosis aims to identify gaps in certifications, technology, processes, financing, production scale, and standards compliance.

The launch occurs as Mendoza seeks to reactivate metal mining, boost exploration, and strengthen its role in oil and energy. The existence of projects alone does not guarantee contracts for local companies, so supplier preparedness and competitiveness will be central factors in accessing that demand.
