Mining exports surpassed US$6 billion

Argentine mining exports reached US$6.059 billion between January and August 2026, the highest figure for the first eight months of any year. The result represented a year-over-year increase of 65.7%.
With this performance, the sector came within only US$15 million of the annual record achieved in 2025, when external sales of minerals totaled US$6.074 billion, with four months still remaining to complete the year.
Lithium was the main driver of growth within the mining basket. Its exports totaled US$1.467 billion in the period and registered a year-over-year increase of 190.5%.
Meanwhile, gold and silver accounted for nearly three-quarters of the total value exported between January and August, maintaining their position as the products with the greatest weight in the sector's external sales.
The data come from the National Mining Secretariat's report on the export performance of mining activity during the first eight months of 2026.
