Fuel Sales Decline for Seventh Consecutive Month in August

Fuel sales to the public registered in August its seventh consecutive year-over-year decline of the year. According to a private report, 1,389,254 cubic meters were sold, compared to 1,420,350 in the same month of 2025, representing a drop of 2.19%.

The contraction was smaller than that observed in July, when the year-over-year decline had reached 5.53%. In the monthly comparison, demand increased 0.57%, with equal-length periods: both months had 31 days.

YPF concentrated the largest sales volume, with a market share of 55.1%. Behind it were Shell, Axion, Puma, Dapsa, Gulf and Refinor.

By product type, Premium gasoline accumulated four consecutive months of declines and fell 2.16% year-over-year. G3 diesel was the only segment that exceeded August 2025 figures, with an increase of 2.75%.

Meanwhile, G2 diesel retreated 3.02% and Super gasoline had the largest decline, with a drop of 3.66%. The evolution of sales occurred in a scenario of strong price increases throughout the year.

The context was also marked by an international surge in crude oil following the armed conflict in the Middle East between the United States, Israel and Iran. Brent exceeded $100 per barrel and was trading at $105 at the time of the report.
