So-called lithium batteries do not correspond to a single technology, but rather to a set of alternatives with different chemical compositions. This diversity directly impacts their performance and the applications for which they are best suited.

The chemistry used in each battery conditions critical factors such as lifespan, manufacturing cost, and operational safety. For this reason, the choice of a technology depends not only on the presence of lithium, but also on the balance sought between these variables.

The differences between battery families are reflected in their ability to maintain performance over time, in their relative costs, and in the conditions necessary for their use. Consequently, there is no universally superior option for all applications.

The analysis of these technologies makes it possible to understand why batteries intended for different equipment, vehicles, or storage systems can present different characteristics and prices, even though all are generally identified as lithium batteries.
