Texas Companies Eye Opportunities in Vaca Muerta

Vaca Muerta continues to attract energy sector companies worldwide. A delegation of more than 30 companies from Texas will arrive in Argentina from October 18–24 with the goal of fostering partnerships and business opportunities in this formation, which stands out for its potential in gas and oil.
The mission, organized by the Argentine-Texan Chamber of Commerce and the Atlantic Council, includes a central event on October 20, the Energy Trade Mission Summit, where a series of panels will be held on Argentina's role in the global energy landscape. Representatives from YPF and Chevron will participate, along with experts from various firms in the sector.
Ariel Bosio, founder of the ATCC, notes that Vaca Muerta could play a fundamental role in energy security not only regionally but also globally. In this regard, North American companies will be divided into two groups: those focused on financing and others seeking partners for operations and services, addressing diverse sector needs.
Among the main demands identified for Vaca Muerta development are the need for financing of large-scale projects, the implementation of midstream infrastructure connecting the deposits to trunk pipelines, and the supply of materials and services to enable increased productivity and cost reduction.
The relationship between Texas and Neuquén is often compared, as the Permian, the most significant oil basin in the U.S., is ten times larger than Vaca Muerta, but the experience gained in that region could offer valuable lessons to optimize the development of this Argentine resource.
