The Mega Expansion project entered the RIGI with an investment of US$365 million

The Government formalized the adhesion to the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI) of the Mega Expansion project, submitted by Compañía Mega SA Sucursal Dedicada (CMSD). The initiative involves a total investment of US$365,398,669 to expand natural gas liquids (NGL) production.
The approval was established through Resolution 1381/2026, which classified the project within the oil and gas sector. Of the total amount, US$359,164,361 corresponds to eligible assets. The company plans to disburse US$121,613,889 during the first year and US$152,709,106 in the second.
The minimum eligible investment must be completed before October 1, 2027. Meanwhile, the start of commercial operations is scheduled for February 28, 2029, and the project's estimated useful life reaches 18 years.
The expansion will add 1,500 tons per day to the capacity of the Mega Industrial Complex, which currently produces 5,500 tons per day of NGL. The works will cover the Loma La Lata Separation Plant, in Neuquén; the pipeline between Loma La Lata and Bahía Blanca, which crosses Neuquén, Río Negro, La Pampa and Buenos Aires; and the Fractionation Plant located in Bahía Blanca.
Since this is an expansion of a pre-existing facility, CMSD must operate independently from Compañía Mega SA and maintain separate accounting. It will also implement monitoring and traceability mechanisms to ensure that the RIGI's tax, customs and foreign exchange benefits apply exclusively to the new works.
The submitted plan establishes that 60% of the funds allocated to suppliers, goods and infrastructure during construction and operation will go to local companies, above the legal minimum of 20%. The adhesion also enables benefits provided under Law 27,742, such as customs exemptions for certain imported goods and the application of tax and foreign exchange incentives through a specific CUIT and the involvement of ARCA and the BCRA.
