Government Authorizes Sale of State Shares in Belgrano and San Martín Power Plants

The national Government authorized the sale of state participations in the thermoelectric power plants Manuel Belgrano and José de San Martín, as part of the privatization process of assets belonging to Energía Argentina S.A. (ENARSA).

The measure was formalized through Decree 1107/2026, which authorizes the disposal of shares held by the State through ENARSA. The company controls 65.01% of Belgrano plant and 68.83% of San Martín plant.

The transfer will be implemented through a bidding process coordinated with the Public Enterprise Transformation Agency. The objective is for both facilities to be operated by private operators, in line with provisions established by the Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines.

The decree also provides for advancing with the privatization of the Guillermo Brown thermoelectric plant, although the administrative process linked to its trust structure must be completed first.

The decision is part of the official strategy to reduce State participation in the energy sector and transfer the management of these activities to private companies with investment capacity and operational expertise.
