Edenor and Edesur Cleared of Debts Worth Approximately US$750 Million

Congress approved a cross-compensation scheme between the national State, Edenor and Edesur that provides for the cancellation of the electricity distributors' debts with CAMMESA for approximately US$750 million.

The measure was incorporated into the energy package enacted along with changes applied to the cold zone regime. The agreement links the companies' outstanding obligations with tariff claims they maintain against the State.

According to the approved scheme, Edenor will cease paying commitments equivalent to US$450 million, while for Edesur the amount reaches US$300 million.

The compensation seeks to cross both sets of obligations within the agreement reached between the distributors, CAMMESA and the national State.
