Catamarca Plans Mining Hub in Southern City Center

The Government of Catamarca and the Municipality of the Capital signed an agreement to move forward with the creation of a Mining Hub in the southern sector of the city. The initiative seeks to bring together agencies and departments linked to mining activity.

The agreement was signed by Governor Raúl Jalil and Mayor Gustavo Saadi. As part of the understanding, the municipality will transfer to the Province properties located in the vicinity of Bicentenario Avenue, which must be used exclusively to develop the planned infrastructure.

One of the properties will be designated for an administrative complex to consolidate offices of the Ministry of Mining, the state-owned company CAMYEN, and other institutions related to the sector. The second parcel will serve logistics and operational functions.

In that space, areas are planned to store drill core samples and storage facilities for machinery and vehicles. The signing of the agreement also included participation from provincial and municipal officials, as well as CAMYEN authorities.

The project is part of a decentralization process for public agencies currently operating in the city center. It also includes the development of the area, with the incorporation of services and territorial planning measures.
