Argentina Projects Increase in Exports Through 2035

Argentina is on a recovery path in global trade, with projections showing its exports will reach USD 180 billion by 2035. After touching a historic low in 2023, when the country accounted for just 0.29% of total global trade, the trend began to reverse starting in 2024.
An analysis by Marcelo Elizondo, president of the Argentine Chapter of the International Chamber of Commerce and director of DNI Consultores, reveals that Argentina's share has grown 37% from its low point. By 2026, exports are expected to exceed USD 100 billion for the first time in the country's history.
Growth Drivers Through 2035
Projected growth does not involve a constant increase; rather, peaks are expected as infrastructure projects and investments advance. Four key engines for this growth have been identified:
-
Recovery in the agribusiness sector, with major harvests that will increase exports.
-
Expansion in the energy sector, with new pipelines such as Vaca Muerta Oil Sur that will boost energy sales.
-
Advances in the mining industry, particularly in lithium and copper projects.
-
Growth in the knowledge economy, with increased exports of professional services.
The improvement in the country's share of global trade, projected at 0.55% for 2035, represents a significant shift from the lowest levels of the past decade, although it still remains below the 0.81% recorded in 1960.
