Silica sand for Vaca Muerta: YPF and Entre Ríos agreement

YPF and the Government of Entre Ríos signed a cooperation agreement with an initial term of three years to evaluate projects related to mining, logistics, energy, infrastructure, and modernization of public services.

One of the key areas will be analyzing how to expand silica sand production in the province and improve its transportation to Vaca Muerta. To this end, the parties will study alternatives regarding routes, railways, and waterways, with the goal of making the supply chain more efficient and reducing costs.

The agreement also seeks to incorporate Entre Ríos companies into YPF's supplier network and other activities related to energy development. The company highlighted the use of the province's silica sand in its hydraulic fracturing operations, while the provincial administration aims to leverage its productive capacity and location within logistics corridors.

The joint agenda includes the evaluation of new commercial outlets and YPF service stations in strategic corridors. It also contemplates electromobility initiatives, such as a possible expansion of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, and the incorporation of telematics systems to improve public fleet management.

Additionally, the possible use or conversion of YPF assets for storage destined to agroindustrial production will be studied, particularly for vegetable oils. The province and municipalities will also analyze fiscal tools and incentives that could facilitate private investments.

The agreement does not allocate specific budget allocations nor does it imply the immediate execution of works. Each project must be implemented through specific agreements, which will establish investments, responsibilities, conditions, and timelines, subject to technical evaluations and financing availability.
