Añelo plans its industrial expansion fueled by Vaca Muerta

The growth of Vaca Muerta is driving a transformation that goes beyond oil and gas production volumes. Añelo, in Neuquén province, has established itself as one of the country's leading hubs of economic and industrial activity.

The town is already home to more than 500 companies linked to the region's productive and energy development. This process is also reflected in urban expansion and population growth, with projections pointing to 50,000 residents by 2031.

Mayor Fernando Banderet stressed that Vaca Muerta's impact must be assessed not only in terms of subsurface resources but also the surface-level activity it generates and its effect on the local economy.

In that context, Añelo announced it will host the Industrial Congress next year. The event will take place for the first time in the capital of Vaca Muerta and aims to support the town's industrial growth process.

Añelo's evolution shows how hydrocarbon expansion is reshaping Neuquén's productive and urban structure, bringing new challenges related to infrastructure, services and population growth planning.
