Broad Business and Academic Support for New Biofuels Law Project

A broad range of business, agroindustrial, commercial, productive and academic entities expressed their support for the opinion on the new Biofuels Law, as the Senate prepares to consider the initiative.

The request was formulated by commodity and grain exchanges, business chambers, agroindustrial organizations, producers, cooperatives and a national university. Collectively, they called on legislators for prompt consideration and final approval of the bill.

The proposal establishes increases in mandatory blending mandates for bioethanol and biodiesel within fuels. Additionally, it aims to offer a regulatory framework with greater predictability for investments linked to the sector.

The support became known following the approval of the opinion in committees and just hours before the Upper Chamber advances with analysis of the initiative. The Senate's decision will be the next step toward eventual enactment of the new regime.
